Redcar SG Petch Bears v Ipswich Tru7.com Tippers R Us Witches – Thursday 20th April 7:30pm
Redcar SG Petch Bears will be looking to put the disappointing home defeat against Peterborough behind them this Thursday, as they take on the heavily fancied Ipswich Witches at the Media Prima Arena with a 7:30pm start.
Since then however, the Bears gained a superb away win at Scunthorpe which kick started their league campaign brilliantly and will be looking to back that up with a home league win against a strong looking Ipswich side that includes the current British Champion in Danny King and experienced Aussie racer Rory Schlein. Bears team manager Jitendra Duffill reflected on last weeks defeat, but insists the team is strong enough to put it behind them:
I was disappointed to be knocked out of the cup by Peterborough last week but they were simply the better team over the two legs. I believe that the absence of Tobias and Ellis cost us dearly but it’s a long season ahead of us and we have to put that behind us and move on. I know we are a lot better than we showed last week but it’s up to us to prove that. There is a lot of self belief in this side and one defeat does not mean that we should panic.
The Bears win at Scunthorpe was their first away win in the league since 2014, and will give the side a huge confidence boost going into the next run of meetings. Ellis Perks returns to the side after missing last weeks clash due to Premiership commitments, whilst Coty Garcia continues in the place of injured Tobias Busch. Ipswich will be at full strength, and are a team fancied by many to get into the play offs and even win the league. Duffill is expecting a big test:
This week we face a very strong Ipswich side who are strongly fancied by many to reach the play offs. This is a big test for us and a meeting that we must win as it’s our first league meeting at home. I’m very pleased to have Ellis back at number 7 as he has started the season in great form and his points contribution can be the difference between winning and losing. I’m gutted to be missing this meeting as I had booked a holiday before I was asked to take on my role full time this year. The team is in the good hands of ex-Redcar rider Jade Mudgway who I have every confidence in getting the best out of our Bears on Thursday.
Its sure to be another exciting meeting at the Media Prima Arena and one not to miss! Action starts promptly at 7:30, with the parade at around 7:20.
