Bears and Panthers in thrilling draw
Redcar SG Petch Bears and the Peterborough Panthers played out a hard fought 45-45 draw at the Media Prima Arena on Thursday night.
It was an enthralling meeting which had a bit of everything, with a draw probably being a fair result on the night. On a night of close, hard fought racing, neither side had more than a 4 point advantage as the pendulum swung one way then another. Heat 13 was the standout heat of the night, with Charles Wright battling superbly with Jack Holder and Richie Worrall. All 3 riders swapped positions for 3 laps, before Jack Holder hit some unexpected drive and somehow managed to hold onto his bike down the home straight. It did however enable Charles Wright to take the victory in a thrilling ride.
The heat fourteen 5-1 by the returning Tobias Busch and Jonas B Andersen took the meeting to a nail-biting last heat decided. A heat advantage for either side would have seen them take the win, but Jack Holder made the gate for the Panthers and despite the best efforts of rider of the night Charles Wright and Ben Barker he could not be caught.
Wright top scored for the Bears with 11+1, with Barker getting 11. Jack Holder top score for the Panthers with12 with guest Nike Lunna scoring 8+1.
The Bears are next in action away at Peterborough on Sunday, before facing the Workington Comets at the Media Prima Arena next Thursday.
