Redcar v Leicester preview
Redcar Agilia Bears return to action at the Media Prima Arena tomorrow (Friday), as they take on a powerful looking Leicester side in Championship action (7:30pm start).
The Bears will be looking to carry on where they left off last Saturday, where they put in a superb performance to beat Edinburgh comfortable. It was a good performance that night, with some excellent racing – no more so than a fantastic heat 15 involving Jordan Stewart, Charles Wright, Cameron Heeps and Joel Andersson.
Promoter Jitendra Duffill was pleased with the performance of his side – and especially that heat 15!
“It was pleasing to get our league campaign off to a decent start last week. It’s tough to beat teams by a good margin here at the Media Prima Arena so an 18 point victory against Edinburgh was a good achievement and we saw a battling performance from all of our boys. I have to mention heat 15 too……wow! What a race that was; so many people have come up to me and expressed their delight with that race, some even telling me it’s the best race they have ever seen here at the MPA. Credit has to go to the riders involved and to our track staff who made it possible. If you haven’t seen the race, we have posted it to our Facebook page and YouTube channel.”
The Bears go into the Leicester meeting without Jordan Stewart, who is in Sweden representing Australia in the U21 Team Cup. Sheffield’s in-form man Broc Nicol will guest in his place. Leicester are on a superb run of form, and indeed have won at Redcar already this season so it promises to be another tough clash. Duffill admits they will be looking to get one over on the Lions:
“Leicester are ‘the’ team to beat at the moment and I know our boys will be very keen to put one over them. Unfortunately we are missing Jordan Stewart who is on international duty. We did everything we could to try and change the date of this fixture or to get Jordy a suitable flight to Sweden for tomorrow but it wasn’t possible. However, Broc Nicol is in good form and should be a very capable guest.”
Leicester come with a team bang on form – although they have made a forced change at reserve after Jack Thomas decided to take a short break from the sport. Young Mildenhall rider Jason Edwards comes in to replace him. They are again led by ex-GB star Scott Nicholls, with ex-Bear Ellis Perks sure to be looking to get one over on his old side.
Make sure you don’t miss what should be another exciting clash at the Media Prima Arena!
