Kerr: We will have a strategy!
Redcar’s Lewis Kerr believes that having a strategy for tonight’s SGB Championship Pairs meeting at Oxford, (19:30 start) is vitally important to the Bears chances of success, “Me and Charles (Wright) will have to work out strategies throughout the meeting to give ourselves the best chance. We will have to think during the races too as we may have to slow the race down or team ride for the win.”
The new Sheffield signing belives the Bears stand every chance of taking the victory, “ I think we stand a good chance of success tonight, me and Charles are going well but it will be a tough meeting as there are some good pairings there but we stand as good a chance as anyone!”
The Bears heat leader is also a fan of the Oxford track, “ Oxford is a good shape and I enjoy the track. I have been there a couple of times this season, the first time I struggled with set-ups but on my second visit I scored double figures. Oxford is a new track but I think it’s getting better every week!”
Kerr also believes keeping a strong mindset is key to success, “ There are a couple of teams really struggling with injury but you have to keep a strong mindset. Any of the pairings can pop out of the start and make it hard work for us so we will be going to defeat everyone!”
The traditional pre Cardiff curtain raiser features all 10 Championship teams with the usual pairs scoring of 4-3-2-0 in ply. The 10 teams will be split into 2 groups with Redcar being drawn in Group B alongside Berwick, Plymouth, Oxford and Poole. The two highest scoring teams from each group will go into the semi-finals followed by the winner takes all final.
