Parr: We’re travelling with confidence!
Redcar’s interim team manager Gavin Parr is full of belief ahead of Redcar’s trip to Poole this evening with tapes up at 19:30 at Wimborne Road.
The adopted Bear believes his side can give the Pirates a run for their money, “ There’s no reason why we can’t go down to Poole and grab a point and it would be a point that I would be very happy with!”
Parr also explained the reasoning for opting to position rider replacement at number 2, “ I learnt a lot from our meeting at Scunthorpe in relation to rider’s having breaks between heats. Using R/R at number 3 means that Lewis (Kerr) would always be having 2 on the trot or if we got into tactical territory, Charles would be having ⅔ on the trot. Having R/R at 2 works better for everyone.”
The Redcar Cubs boss also explained to fans why the club are not using a guest for the meeting, “ We had Justin Sedgemen booked as a guest but Birmingham then arranged a challenge fixture which was unfortunate for us.”
Parr is also still on a high after the Bears won the Championship Pairs at Oxford last Friday, “ Last Friday was fantastic, we had a plan which worked perfectly. You didn’t have to be the fastest rider on the night, you had to have the fastest pair and I genuinely believe we had the fastest pair on the night.”
Parr was also quick to praise the large travelling contingent of Redcar fans who made themselves heard at Sandy Lane, “ It was a brilliant night, we had fantastic travelling support. Apart from the support for Oxford (the hosts), we had the loudest support by far and it was massively appreciated by the riders and the promotion.”
Redcar aim to finally hand Kyle Newman his debut at the second time of asking whilst Jordan Jenkins will be hoping to emulate his showing at Poole last season when he scored paid 8. As highlighted, rider replacement will operate at number 2 for Erik Riss.
Poole name their full 1-7 as they look to sign off from their regular league campaign with a win. The clash will also be shown live on the British Speedway Network with coverage starting at 19:00.
