Halder: We have a strong side!
MIDDLESBROUGH’s Jamie Halder is excited at the make-up of this year’s Tigers side, with the side set to take to the shale in the WSRA National League for the first time in 2025 against the Edinburgh Monarchs Academy with tapes up at 19:00 at Armadale.
Halder also knows the Middlesbrough skipper, Danny Phillips will be key this evening, with Phillips being a former Edinburgh man. Halder said, “ Danny has done a lot of laps around there, more than most of us so, in theory he should go pretty well for us.”
Halder, who is into his second year in Middlesbrough colours, believes that the tricky Armadale circuit holds no fears for the side, “ Edinburgh isn’t an easy place to go but I think we have a good side and we can go well there.”
Despite Halder entering his 8th season in the sport, this will only be his 3rd visit to Edinburgh, but the Brit is keen to use his previous experiences to his advantage. Halder said, “ I’ve had two meetings there, one good and one bad one, that helps with getting a set-up sorted early to ensure I can start fast.”
The Middlesbrough number two is excited to have former league title winner Tom Spencer in at number one. Halder said, “ It’s good to have Tom, I’ve known him quite a while, he’s been there and done it with Leicester and I hope he can bring that into the Tigers side.
The Tigers are led at number one by the aforementioned Spencer who makes his debut for the side alongside his Redcar reserve partner, Ace Pijper. Also making his club debut is teen starlet Stene Pijper. The Tigers management are forced into a change as Ben Rathbone is unavailable with former Cub Laylen Richardson coming in as a guest replacement.
Edinburgh are led by Connor Coles at number one, with the former Berwick man keen to impress after being overlooked for a Cab Direct Championship spot at the start of the season.
Any fans who are unable to attend the meeting are reminded that the meeting will be live streamed at https://www.edinburghmonarchs.
