Trio complete 2018 Bears
Redcar Speedway are delighted to confirm tonight that Matej Kus, Jordan Stewart and Tobias Busch will complete the 2018 Bears team.
Matej is of course well known to Redcar fans after his previous spell with the club, and the popular Czech will start on a 7.64 average. Matej sat out last season with an injury, but spent the 2016 season with our good friends up at Newcastle. Bears team manager and co-promoter Jitendra Duffill is pleased to have him back in the ranks:
Last time Matej raced for us he won rider of the year, and I’m very confident that he will do a great job. He is ultra excited to be back and I think he is in for a big season. Matej missed most of 2017 due to injury and he is very keen to make amends for that.
Jordan is one of Australia’s brightest prospects, and will be coming over for his first season in the UK. He finished 8th in the recent Australian Championships, 2 points behind Edinburgh’s Josh Pickering and 7 ahead of Jye Etheridge. He will come in on an assessed 5.2 average. Duffill is excited to see Stewart in action:
Jordan has enjoyed a good season in Australia, and is one of their brightest prospects. I’ve watched him race over the last few weeks in the Australian Championships where he has taken some big scalps including Jack Holder. He has a very bright future and I am very excited to secure his signature for 2018. I’m very confident that he will make a big impression very quickly.
Tobias is another face familiar to Bears fans, and the very popular German returns on a 4.66 average. It was a bit of a stop-start season last year for Tobias due to injury, but still produced some excellent performances towards the end of last season. He will start the season in a reserve berth alongside Theo Pijper, a partnership which Duffill believes will be potent:
Tobias will form a very potent reserve partnership with Theo Pijper and hopefully keep us strong at home. I’m confident he can add to his starting average, and he can beat anyone around the Media Prima Arena. He was unsure whether he was coming to the UK in 2018 but I’m pleased we were able to persuade him to return. We definitely haven’t seen the best of Tobi yet!
