Redcar v Birmingham preview
Redcar Agilia Bears will go into Fridays meeting against injury hit Birmingham full of confidence, looking to put last week’s home defeat behind them (7:30 start).
The Bears are on a good run of form, and won 53-37 at Birmingham on Wednesday night in a dominant performance. Birmingham will be travelling to Teesside looking for revenge, however they have suffered further injury problems this week. Already missing Tero Aarnio and Ashley Morris due to injury, Adam Ellis broke his collarbone in the heat 13 crash on Wednesday night. The Brummies will operate rider replacement for Ellis, meaning any rider can take his rides. They will have guests for Aarnio and Morris, these are to be confirmed at time of going to print.
The Bears will be without maximum Erik Riss, who is riding for Germany in the Speedway Cup of Nations. Lewis Kerr will guest in his place. Charles Wright, who dislocated his shoulder at Peterborough on Friday, is hoping to test his shoulder tomorrow afternoon. If all goes well, he will take his place in the lineup otherwise rider replacement will operate for him.
Bears co-promoter is hoping for a repeat of the Bears spirited performance last week against Scunthorpe, albeit with a different result!
“I would like to thank the fans for your support last week. I think the whole club showed what we are made of last week – every single one of us pulled together and almost pulled off what others thought was impossible. We are an incredible club and your support means everything to the team. I can’t single out any one rider for our performance as they were all brilliant!”
